Sew Sew Suck My Toe!

Well I did it.

I sewed the sleeves on the sweater for the THIRD time, and this time it's good enough DARN it (pun intended)!

I pinned the sleeves on nicely, took my sweet time, used the mattress stitch to make an invisible seam...and VOILA! The sleeve seams still look like poop. I tonight do solemnly swear to never again sew up a sweater I knit. I will hire a professional from my Stitch N' Bitch group.

So....because the sleave seams and the place in the middle of the sweater where I joined the top to the bottom using the kitchener stitch looked like something Triumph the Insult Dog would poop on.....I used a bit of ingenuity and brought in some new fiber using the duplicate stitch.

Stitch
Stitch
Stitch

That's a really difficult word to type, and it totally looks wrong.

I think I like the look. It's very bohemian. The fiber is AMAZINGLY soft. It's really heavy, but Sage curled up with it and said "oooh this is so nice...like a blankie." I have one skein left, and I think I will use it in the baby blanket I intemd to knit for my cousin's bambino due in October. Remember the circular one I said I was starting that I never did start?!

Here are some photos of the sweater before I sewed on the sleeves. It fits better now that the sleeves are in. So I guess I'm basically done with it. Just sew on the button and put in a little bit more duplicate stitching where I want to hide the boo boos.

Yeah! My first sweater! I hope Teva Durham would be proud of my lil' changes. It's so punk of me

On a completely off subject aside...we rescued a couple of stray kittens last week & I'm happy to say I found two great homes for them both! Here are some pics of the little girl that Otto tried to eat on many an occasion, Lucy. Lucy is happily adjusting to life in Mnpls. with Nick & Chad. She's our little country kitty living it up in the big city!
