A Wee Briget...

Well, it's official-my cousins Nicole and Blake are finally getting around to joining me in the "Parents of Small Children" circle. So....in honor of their newest expecatations I will attempt to knit, drumroll please, a BABY AFGHAN.

I found a really cool pattern in the book, "The Knitting Goddess" by Deborah Bergman. It is a circular blanket knit from the inside out. It is called the Brigit Baby Blanket Pattern and is based on the Pi shawl. "The Pi shawl is a modern innovation in knitting designed by the beloved master designer and knitter Elizabeh Zimmermann that allws you to start in the center and work your way out into a circle....Symbolically speaking...the circle is a mystical symbol of wholeness, and when we take the roundness off the thing and give it four equal sides we make mystical wholeness tangible and physical" (Bergman 229-230).

I'm going to go through my yarn stash and find some soft things to use, and lots of color! Nicole's baby shower is on Sunday, and I doubt I will finish the project by then...so I will knit up one of my classic easy baby sweater patterns (see below photos of Violet in Noro, and cotton sheep sweater and hat). I can usually whip one of these up in about a day. I think I will add something punk...any suggestions? I'm a bit burned out on the old jolly roger.

Back to the ol' movie making....still have yet to finish up the WIP's. Tomorrow is another day.
