Sew What!

I've been busy this Summer.

Here is a bunny I knit for Violet. I call her Legs.

I bought the pattern for this bag up in Knife River at Playing with Yarn. It was a pretty cool place. I also bought some nifty discontinued Noro yarn called big BeBe and knit a scarf on the way to "Little Shop of Horrors" on Saturday. It's cool yarn, bright colored linen, silk, and cotton.

Eventually, the bag will look darling with a little blossom and stem handle, complete with felted leaves-that is, if I ever get around to sewing the petals of the flower on.....

This a pillow cushion I attempted to knit for our new leather sofa. The sofa is too slippery for knit pillows, so I went to TjMaxx for the blue ones....Adam says knit pillows are a waste of time...I kinda like them. I made another one, and have yet to sew it up. The story of my life.

I've been also trying to finish Sage's puppy, which looks more like a pig, but I need to embroider the face on and then I will take a photo. If all of his toys were to be handmade by Mumsy he would have about 3 toys total. What a pain in the ass! "Mom, that looks kind of wierd. Can you make me a t-rex?"

It's back to work for moi. Violet digs Mom's headphones. She's my rockstar.

If I Could Turn Back Time

Cleaning out the old IPhoto closet again...I came across some more projects I finished and actually took some photos of the intended knittee using them.

We've got Pam and me and the kids in ABQ last September. Pam's purse was knit and felted from many scraps I had lying around. Way to use that stash, as in moustache...

We've got Candy in her fancy duds-I even made the buttons! She kept this on for about a half hour!

AND....

We've got Violet aka Drool Queen in a sweater (Noro Blossom) and hat (Ice Cream) that I knit for her when she was in utero.

I hope to find and post a photo of a more current project.

Roger that Jolly

I was going through a pirate phase this winter. Here are a couple of hats I made for Sage and Violet.

Sage would like me to complete a pirate sweater for him this fall. I'd better get on that! I knit the hat for Violet a bit snug, so I think it may get passed on to another wee girly friend...if I meet any new ones.

Sage's hat was my first intarsia project and it was really clumsy 'cause I knit it in the round. I found the beanie pattern for the hat on chicknits.com and I stole the intarsia image from Stich n Bitch Nation (see wristbands).

Old Habits Die Hard

Here are a few photos of past projects that I completed this spring.

The baby set is a pattern I made up as I went along, as I practised intarsia. I made it mostly out of a knubby cotton. This is my first cotton project and its a nice change. Not quite the stretch as other fibers but I thought it would be prudent as the baby (Max) came in May.

I knit the "shrug" for my best friend Pamela DiMauro who works as a printer/artist at the New Grounds Studio in Albq. New Mexico. You can check out some of her work at the Studio's website: www.newgroundsprintshop.com She is currently showing her work at the Creamery Inn in Downsville, WI. She traded me a beautiful print for the shrug which I knit in local alpaca. It's so incredibly soft. A lot of people gave me crap for this design..."where's the rest of the sweater?" But, I noticed that in this month's Anthropologie catalog they had something very similar....I based the design out of a pattern from Scarf Style, and tweaked it to fit Pam's shape and personality.

Saggy Sack

So here it is my Saggy Sack, hanging from a tree in my backyard. However, in a few washes....voilla it becomes: "The Sophie Bag" You can find the pattern for this on www.magknits.com I've made this bag 3 times now, and I believe three times really is a charm because I think this is going to be one heck a bag. I'm planning on knitting a few pink blossoms, felting those, and sewing them on for an added charm.

I'll post the pics when the bag is finished.
